  1. So excited! After living living in the United States for the past 45 years, my father is no longer “undocumented,” and just finally received his green card in the mail today!!! Years of stress and worry about his potential deportation are now over. I’m thankful for the general amnesty that Reagan, yes, that Reagan, implemented, as that has allowed my dad to receive his permanent resident green card (and all of the benefits he’s paid into for all of these years). He, like all other immigrants, came to the U.S. for a better life and to be able to help provide for his family. Luckily for my dad, he immigrated to the U.S. during a time when Americans weren’t so hostile towards immigrants (I wonder why…) and he was able to apply for the amnesty – without having to leave the U.S. first. Immigration reform, in the form of general amnesty, is so greatly needed, for the benefit of both the United States and families across the nation!
